MPs approve Ruku and Cheptumo for Cabinet Secretary Roles

The National Assembly has approved the appointment of the two Cabinet secretary nominees, Ruku and Cheptumo, for the cabinet secretaries roles.

In Summary

  • The speaker of the National Assembly will now send the report to President Ruto for appointment and swearing in process, before they can start their official duties.
  • The two were nominated to replace Justin Muturi and Aisha Jumwa who were dismissed.

The National Committee Authority on Appointment has today, April 16, approved the nomination of the two cabinets secretaries, and they are now awaiting the swearing in process, so that they can proceed with there new jobs.

Geoffrey Kirunga Ruku has been approved as the cabinet secretary for Public Service, and he will be replacing Justin Muturi, who was dismissed after having a fallout with President Ruto, when he started started asking questions on the abductions that are happening in the country.

Hannah Wendot has been approved as the cabinet secretary for Gender and she will be replacing Amina Juma who was dismissed in 2024.

Both candidates were nominated by President Ruto, before they faced the appointment committee which was led by the speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula

George Ruku assured the committee that he will work hard to ensure that he creates an enabling environment for employment, and businesses across the country.

During the interview, the Public Service cabinet secretary nominee, George Ruku said that if given a chance, he would ensure that he streamlines the Public Service Sector, and especially the area of employment, which is an area that has been majorly affected.
